This immersive program is designed for passionate ocean advocates who want to step into the role of a dive professional while actively contributing to marine conservation. This path is ideal for individuals pursuing marine science, environmental studies, or those looking to gain practical field experience alongside professional dive leadership skills.
Participants will undergo comprehensive Divemaster training, equipping them with leadership capabilities and professional-level diving knowledge. Woven into this training is an intensive marine conservation curriculum, offering daily diving activities combined with structured ecological coursework.

The Organisation
Blue Corner Marine Research (the marine science arm of Blue Corner Dive) has established an extensive coral restoration project which is the longest running and largest coral restoration project in the Nusa Penida Marine Park. This huge project requires the help of passionate ocean enthusiasts, and dedicated environmentally conscious people. Using proven stabilastion and regrowth frames and techniques our restoration site has proven to be a successful model for coral regeneration in the area.
We also offer training in several other vital ecological concerns/threats in not just this area but globally.
About
The Programme
As a Divemaster Conservation candidate, you will:
Participate in daily scuba dives for skill development, guided training, and conservation data collection.
Complete the Divemaster course, which includes:
Dive theory and physics
Skill development workshops in confined and open water
Assisting instructors in actual dive courses
Supervised leadership scenarios to prepare for professional responsibilities
Attend conservation lectures and field sessions focused on marine ecology.
Contribute to ecological surveys and monitoring projects.
Participants will rotate through specialized modules tailored to our local ecosystems, including:
Manta Ray Conservation: Learn about identification, population ecology, behavior, and protection efforts for these vulnerable giants.
Sea Turtle Ecology: Study species identification, nesting and feeding behavior, biology, and essential conservation strategies.
Nudibranch Ecology & Identification: Dive into the fascinating world of macro marine life, learning taxonomy, habitat requirements, and surveying techniques for these crucial indicator species.
Ecological Monitoring: Learn foundational reef health assessment methods and underwater data collection.

Situated on Nusa Penida, the biggest of the 3 Nusa Islands off of Bali’s southeastern coast in the Lombok Strait, the Penida Marine Protected Area (MPA) is home to a year-round population of manta rays, seasonal appearances of mola mola, and vibrant coral reefs

Conservation Internship
Depending on the student’s current certification level and dive count, the program typically runs for a minimum of 6 weeks for Rescue-certified divers, with a maximum length of up to 10 weeks for those starting at earlier certification levels.
Costs and pre-requisites
Minimum age of 18 years old.
We accept applications from various certification levels (Open Water through Rescue).
Must be able to swim 400m unassisted and tread water/float for 10 minutes.
A deep passion for marine environments and continuous learning.
