August 2026 Newsletter | Blue Corner Dive Nusa Penida

August has been and gone already!! That went by in the blink of an eye.

First up, we welcome another new Divemaster into the ranks of pros.  The lovely Courtney joined us for a month after first spending a month at our base in Lembongan, where she completed our comprehensive conservation courses.

Courtney came already locked in as she was previously working on superyachts so the service side of the industry was second nature.  We had some very funny times during her course with little incidents like forgetting weights.
Always early and always with a smile and happy to get involved in whatever was happening around the dive centre we were sad to see her leave, but baby bird had to leave the nest, so we wish her well and hope to see her again.

The ladies of the dive centre, to show their appreciation, dressed Courtney up a little for her snorkel test and voila, Welcome to the big leagues!

Not sure what look the ladies were going for but we like it….Divemaster Barbie?

Elsewhere, the Mantas have been out in force and we have been lucky to witness on a number of occasions some fantastic acrobatic displays of Mating train action.  If you have never witnessed a mating train it is quite a rare and special event to see so we were super happy that they have still be going on.
Heres a video from our Youtube channel of a previous one.

Mola sightings are getting a little more frequent now that the season is getting in full swing and we have also managed a few reconnaissance dives here and then. The most notable one gave us a pair of white tip reef sharks and 3 huge marbled rays napping up a huge overhang and a bamboo shark passing..  We will definitely be heading back to this site at some point.
This is one of the rays.  MASSIVE! ☺

Here’s hoping September delivers as much ocean awesomeness as August.

Until next month.  Happy bubbles.
